AUSTRALIAN troops will expand counter-terrorism training with Indonesia's special forces - a unit Kevin Rudd once suggested could not be trusted because of its alleged links with terrorists. Known as Unit of Detachment 81 and part of the Kopassus special forces, ......
Of greater concern, Mr Rudd said, was official information given to Parliament in November 2002 that Kopassus at that time had links with terrorist organisations, including Laskar Jihad.

    Conflict in the Moluccas is set to enter a third year with no end to the
    violence in sight. Disturbing new reports suggest Christian communities are facing forcible conversion and circumcision, adding a new dimension to a conflict that has already caused untold suffering.  By conservative estimates at least 5000 have been killed and a further 500,000 displaced.

Dat wordt namelijk uit puur financiële overwegingen aangewend om de politieke onrust in sommige gebieden van Indonesië -en dan vooral de Molukken- aan te wakkeren.
