NATIONAL STRATEGIC PROJECTS (PSN) AND THE OMNIBUS JOB CREATION LAW
The National Strategic Project (PSN) signed on January 8, 2016, is expected to be a way out to accelerate economic growth and equalize development in Indonesia. The Omnibus Law on Job Creation was passed by the parliament on October 5, 2020 and signed into law by President Joko Widodo on November 2, 2020. The relationship between the Omnibus Law (Job Creation Law) and National Strategic Projects (PSN) is one of legal-structural mutually dependent relationship, wherein the Omnibus Law serves as the primary legal framework to accelerate, facilitate, and safeguard the implementation of all PSN projects in Indonesia. Designating a project as a National Strategic Project (PSN) in Indonesia leads to forced evictions, deliberate destruction and loss of ancestral lands and structural injustice for indigenous communities (AI)
